Die not, young man,
Are you weary?
Have you taken the soldier’s road?
Do you shoulder the nation’s burden,
Well out on the horizon,
Where enemies lurk
Amidst the sand and gritty dirt,
And hold true in your heart,
All that is good within you?
Stand tall and brave before us,
This is too much that we ask of you;
To uphold the cause of liberty,
For those who may appreciate you not.
But valor resides deep within,
And is nurtured along the way,
But there is nothing that has prepared us,
To stand over your body and pray.
You are the nation’s soul,
The best of what we will show on review,
For collectively we would become nothing,
If globally it was not for you.
For you are the expressions on our face,
And you speak the words in our hearts,
And your feet carry us into the lion’s den,
Where your courage must vanquish our foe.
Survive and return to your families,
To your cars, and your jobs, and your moms.
Come home to the children who await you,
After you have forever silenced the bombs.
You are the best blood of our nation,
You should be rewarded with the nation’s wealth,
So, come home you conquering hero,
And take your place in hallowed halls,
And enjoy the gratitude of your nation,
And may you be blessed with the best of health.
