Friendship

by Frank P Whyte — Read all 321 poems by Frank P Whyte

For my very good friend, Barb Stock, with the very real hope that she knows how much we all love her.

Poem Artwork

Friendship, it seems, in many ways,
Is simple when another cares.
It often can be quite enough,
Just to know that your friend is there.

We pass through this life
Far to fast,
And we are touched rarely along the way,
By others who seem so much like ourselves,
And their smile can brighten our day.

But relationships can be so tedious,
And often there just isn’t time,
To do all of the things that we’d like to do,
Like writing a poem and making it rhyme.

True friends don’t need all of the fanfare,
And the topic is seldom discussed,
But they know where they’ll turn when the wind blows,
To a friend whom they know and they trust.

Never doubt, my friend, what you mean to me,
And consider not that you’ll ever depart,
For the image of your inner goodness,
Is forever etched in my heart.

This is so lovingly written, Frank, and your rhyme and meter are flawless. You are a true friend to write such a beautiful tribute to her. I know if someone wrote this for me I would feel both proud and honored and loved.
Very well written.
Love,
CJ

Beautiful write my friend and words that ring true of friendship, I consider many people my friends, those whom I go to church with, those whom I work with, those that were friends from my youth, friends at the den, family that is also friends, but one thing that few of those have in common is what you've spoke of in your write, friends may not speak daily, they may not take the time to write poetry to each other or even call each other daily, but a true friend knows that the other sometimes gets weighed down with the cares of this world, and time does pass quickly, but when time is made for the other we just pick up where we left off, and no ill feelings for each other due to the absense of the other just total understanding, that is what a real friend does. You've penned a great write that has inspired me greatly tonight. Enjoyed this much!
Glad I stopped by,
Blessings,
