Poem Artwork

I heard that you left,
Without so much as
A slamming door,
No sudden shift in the cosmos,
No opportunity to say goodbye.

I wonder how I look today,
Now that you know the truth,
Do old allegiances,
Seem so frail,
Now that your vision,
Can somehow ford the expanse?

I am angry
Deep within.

There were times
When I tried to be a friend,
A friend that you didn’t want.
Like your disease,
I went away,
But unlike your illness,
I didn’t come back,
But what you didn’t know,
Is how it made me sick.

You were one who believed the lies,
And passed them along
With the imprimatur of truth,
And much like the daggers
Of treachery,
And betrayal,
You left your victims alone,
And in pain,
While you smiled
Upon the favored few.

Now you know
About suffering,
And unremarkably,
So do I.
A friend you know,
Can share the load,
But pain
Is a road you walk alone.

Now I am so very angry,
Angry, with no recourse.
You discounted my own
Honest concern,
And chose the lies,
And betrayal,
Once again

I am left to consider
The consequences,
Of knowing there will be
No relief,
No peace of mind,
No comfort,
No friend
On Celestial moons.

Times like that, I'm so very glad of who the ultimate judge is-- aren't you? There's a ring in some people's noses that gets led around by lies. Too, too sad, but too, too true, too. --Charlie
