Poem Artwork

Twenty six is she,
A grown woman in her prime,
But she quakes with fear
When she’s all alone,
So dark is the coming storm.

“What is it, Dad?” she asks me.
“What is happening to our world?”
And it does not take a degree
From MIT,
To know that dark hearts
Have set their sights
On our land.

Close your eyes and draw a breath,
Listen closely in the night,
Sit perfectly still
On the top of a hill,
As a sentry,
Naming the enemy’s advance.

There is no person to warn you,
For one message
Contradicts the next.
It is only with your own
Discerning eye,
With which you will identify the threat.

America is to me
What it always has been,
But for many,
Patriotism is dead.
They ask only what their country
Might do for them,
And pretend that the threat
Isn’t real.

It is pathetic to listen
To those conquered,
When they lament
That they never dreamed,
That the enemy was real,
And had a plan all along,
To separate them from their home.

Do not be deluded,
For the devils are
In your town.
They’ve convinced you
To deprive your children
Of prayer in their schools,
No Pledge of Allegiance
To start their days.
No display of the Ten Commandments;
We must separate
Church from state,
And by the time you understand
What has happened,
I’m afraid it will be far too late.

...so much well penned truth in your words...much vision given to a world...in the shape of question mark...your poetic thoughts ring in honest light...of darkness feared.
excellent Frank...

Oh, so, so true! I could go on and on about what the schools and government are doing to the family unit, but I won't...
I will suffice it to say that so many school officials and teachers believe that they know what is best for our children and will stop at nothing to have things done their way....
Sad, sad...and scary times we live in!

Very important write, Frank. More and more power being taken away from our families-- even in the home. It is so ironic that in the name of freedom, we remove freedom... so weird and warped... but there you have it.

Still, we have our minds and we have our families-- we have eachother and God to cling to. --Charlie
