Mellencamp’s singing for Farm Aid,
Mixing politics with his tunes,
Everybody’s got a cause these days,
While the republic sits in ruins.
I’ve got a couple of dogs at my feet,
As I scribble down a few foolish remarks,
I’ve traversed this great country twenty times at least,
But I feel like I’m just getting my start.
My lady, she’s singing in the kitchen,
She's got a couple more dogs at her feet,
It doesn’t matter to them if she can’t hit the high notes,
When her pockets are filled with treats.
A big wind came by and blew the forest down;
It happened just a week ago,
Now we’ve got plenty of firewood to keep us warm,
Just in time for the winter snow.
Oh, what a beautiful life we lead,
Getting older and still falling in love,
We get our dried goods from a store down the road,
And good guidance from the Man above.

So you reiterate... talking about dogs again, then about love-- your lady and singing with the dogs again, and then about love. Then about the wind, the firewood and snow, and follow that up with love-- and you've got a great song! I can almost hear the tune. Grab your guitar or banjo, pluck it out, and share it with your friends and family... and if you can't make a tune, message me back. I've got a cousin who...
It's a contageous sentiment, this positive energy. Run with it. --Charlie
