Looking once for the sage
Who, as they said,
Lived his secluded life
In the wilderness, I got lost.
All of a sudden,
I saw a herd boy who’s sitting
Under the three olive trees.
When asked he said,
"Master has gone alone
For herb-picking somewhere
Deeply in desert.”
Cloud-hidden,
Whereabouts unknown;
Hence, I said:
"Your voice sounds me
With confidence,
Maybe you will tell me
How can I win the world?"
"That’s easy," he replied.
Saying so, he mounted on
His bluish camel,
Ready to ride away.
I held him back,
Asking the same question
Again, so he said,
"Winning the world
Is very similar
To grazing sheep or camels,
What’s the difference?
Just take bad intents
Out of your mind,
Like bad sheep or camels
You take out of the herd,
And you’ll get a good end.”
Saying so, he rode off.
Upon hearing this,
I’ve got illumination.
Then I kowtowed thrice
In the direction the boy left,
Thanking him
For opening up my mind;
Then I headed home,
Enlightened.
