Poem Artwork

It happened that a burglar

Dropped it behind him

While scrambled out of

The window--a moonbeam

Filled the windowsill with

Its dazzle of fine silver. . .

That was funny! Such a slip

Never happened to him

As long as he was a thief

For a living. All of a sudden,

At the very end of his 'career'

He got his share of illumination!

Illumination is (should be) always welcome, as it seemed to be for this thief, partially because it was so unexpected ("never happened to hi as long as he ewas a thief"). Old age has its compensations (for some). John

I know there's a clue there somewhere. But I'm not very good at whodunits.
