Please don't worry about
The everymen's ignorance,
Which is met in every quarter.
All those who are searching
For the truth afar
Think they can thus expand
Their narrow minds,
Getting their horizons wide.
They are like a crazy drunk
Who, oh poor, sitting in the midst
Of a puddle, cries out in thirst. . .
Boundless and free
Is the flight of a swift in mid air;
Bright is the moon's disc --
The celestial body of Reflection!
But is something missing around right now?
Self-sufficiency is on your right side,
The challenged action is on your left.
Here, under your very nose,
Just before your eyes,
Is the real world, warts and all --
The very yard of your Pure Mind's realization.
One thing is very certain. The real world is transforming very fast as far as humans are concerned and standing still for all the rest. This onrush forward creates great pressures on the environment that are often difficult to relieve once they've taken hold. I think we are all in that puddle sitting there sipping from it and watching it get smaller all around us. As our numbers grow, we don't know how to make that puddle any bigger.
When it comes to real knowledge, we are all "sitting in the midst of a puddle" and we too are crying out in thirst while here "under the nose" is the real world, if we only knew.
