Does She? Doesn't She?

SUSAN - FOUND!
© - Tom Hyland - 10-14-08
As Oktoberfest 2008 Approached,
Connie K’s Kin in Laytonsville,
Carolyn and Bill - t’would be Terrific Hosts.
My Eight-Ball Team Buddy, Connie, told me That -
Susan was looking Forward to seeing me - Sure!
Over a Year ago - no Word from this Kute Kitty-Kat!
Had written a Poem Just for Her,
“Desperately Seeking Susan”
But now my Memory was just a Blur!
T’was in this very same Place -
At Connie and Meade’s Wedding Reception
The Second Time I Saw - Her Pretty Face.
Oh, to be Sure, the Poem did Impress,
But Nary an email was Received,
Nor a Phone-call, she did Confess!
The Evening arrived, October 11th, Two-Thousand and Eight,
I was Anxious and Excited,
And also just a Tad Late!
I searched the Sea of Faces,
Wondering - would she wear That Cap?
Many Handshakes, Hugs, and Embraces -
But Alas - I saw her Not!
An Inquiry to Connie was all it Took,
She went and Got Her - Still Hot-Hot-Hot!
A Smile, a Hug - a Peck on the Cheek,
She sat down Beside Me,
And my Knees got Very Weak!
A long, Friendly discussion then did Ensue,
Susan was a Chatter-Box, not Unlike -
My Sweet Sioux City Sue!
Her Year had been one of Trouble,
One Thang, or T’other -
She did Re-Inflate my Bursted Bubble!
We Wined and Dined, Broke Bread Together,
Spoke of Wondrous Things -
Even the Better Weather!
Should I be Meek - or should I be Bold?
As Dusk Fell Upon Us,
The Night grew quite Cold.
Would you wear my Sweater?
Use it as a Wrap?
Yes, She Did - I was a Happy, Sappy Chap!
A Gentleman would Never Tell -
Her Age, that Is -
To me, it’s Very Swell!
We did get a Chance,
To ‘Cut a Rug’
To Dance!
A Few Tender Caresses,
A Kiss or Two Perhaps?
And Aah! The Smell of her Tresses!
Am I just a Foolish Old Codger?
Am I reading the Signals Wrong?
Is Susan Really an Artful Dodger?
Could I Find the Time?
Dinner at Her Place?
M’Dear - That T’would be Sublime!
Just Friends? I could Go for That -
Only Time Can Tell -
All Depends On - This Kute Kitty-Kat!
FOOTNOTES -
I Desperately Sought Susan,
And Now She is Found -
Should She Bless me with Caresses,
I’ll be Prometheus Unbound!
Although I am a Good Guy - Truly a Sport -
Remember, Darlin’ - The Ball is in Your Court!
