Poem Artwork

Ah, Love, you've done me in again.
You sauntered, in your beateous guise,
into my life and mind and heart,
and wove your web of golden lies.

You promised days of sparkling sun
and nights romantic filled with love;
with candied hearts and roses red
and golden moon and stars above.

Your silken words did lure me on
down flowered paths and moonlit night;
I gladly followed where you led
with wild abandoned heart so light.

And when you tired of loving eyes
and tender heart, you smiled and left!
Leaving behind a broken heart,
a mind and soul and life bereft.

So now I wander lonely trails
where once we frolicked hand in hand,
thinking it would last forever!
Ah love, you broke my heart again.

I look through the works of writers on AuthorsDen almost daily, but never have I found such talent. Not just this poem, but all of yours that I've read. I look forward to reading them all. I envy the way you can transfer emotion to words.

Joyce, Excellent poem, so sad,but I think it says so much that so many of us can relate to. It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Alan.
