How does the poet create such imagery and beauty when they must live in the world evermore? Stark, beautiful, noisy, violent, brooding - always seeping the past, and masking what's in store?
How do they sing the joy and pain of love and loss when death abounds at fingertips and door; the door that opens onto sun and storm alike. We know not if this day will bring us peace or war.
Ah Joyce, I do admire poets and the deep things they write about. Sometimes the meaning is obscure, yet there is always something so beautiful and mysterious in what a poet writes. You have done a great job in how you captured the essence of a poet.
You pen a most beautiful awareness of what the poet does for humanity. It is all you say and more. Thank you for this insightful compostion, from which I gain much.
I chuckle at the, "- - before our God returns and intones, Nevermore.....part, since I don't worry about God any more. I do the best I can from day to day, but methinks he worries a lot about me.

Indeed impressive; I think poets write of beauty in the midst of ugliness to make the world a little brighter for those of us who still have hope...well done!
You give us so many impressive thoughts to ponder in this piece, Joyce. I'd like to think that many, nay...most poets retain in their hearts the innocense of a child, joy of being alive, love, and constant hope for a better world - condenced it's called optimism. Great poem.
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
Inspirational poetry, written from the heart and soul. Verses that are well-suited for reading on a rainy day and that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
