When Auden’s eyes are gay
And he utter the word
Rejoice, rejoice
For the break of a new day
And lapis lazuli Chinese men
Looks upon the tragic scene
Of men to men being mean
In sickness and in health
The tohu-bohu leads
The way toward the intensity
Of the grave then it is poetry
That can save man who
Have lost his way with
All his mechanical toys
Of opium of the masses
That dulls their free will
And mind then turn
You quick to the intensity of rhyme
