This poem is the result of my enjoying my relationship with my wife, whom I adore. This comes from my book on poetry: "Acorns of Love and Wisdom, Poem for the Every Day Person".
THE DRESSER
Clanging
Into the serenity
Of sleep filled night
The alarm had its way
And a groan
Joined my blow
That shut the damn thing off
Your hands
Rattled the lamp
As you fumbled
For the switch
In the dark
And you clicked it
Reluctance
To open my eyes
Was overcome
By soft light
Which pierced empty night
With the captivating sight
Of your
Nude innocence
Charmed as I was
I was frozen
Save my eyes
Which devoured your nakedness
And roamed with your ritual
Of dressing
Piece by piece
You assembled
Your style for the day
And then you
Changed it
Again and again
And finally satisfied
You looked at all sides
In the mirror
I saw double
As you reflected
And now
I can hardly wait
Until tomorrow
I loved him. At age twelve he touched my heart with his music. At age twenty he captured my heart when our eyes met as he sat on a stage and sang Four months later, he fractured my heart with his refusal to allow us to stay together. At age seventy
Love is universal and not limited to the most perfect among us. In this collection of romantic short stories and poetry, love comes to those who are decidedly imperfect, who possess very real human flaws, scars, and challenges. Awaiting us as we are.
