I put your picture by my bed…
Beside the place my prayers are said,
For now I find when days are through
My prayers are mostly said for you.
Yes prayers that things may go your way,
That God may guard you through each day-
That in your nights you find sweet rest
With thanks that you have been so blest.
If God may grant me just this part-
Of asking Him straight from my heart
To bless with His most caring touch
The person who I love so much.
And God forgive me if I’m wrong
For feeling that you might belong
With me, so I must ask Him whether
We could ever be together.
I pray it’s not a selfish thing
To make my heart an offering,
A heart so filled with loving care…
The way I put your picture there.

This is beautiful and tender. Perfect in rhyme and meter,
as is all of your poetry.
