The Future Falls

Someday, just hope that we are not around,

An asteroid will make it to the ground,

And all disasters since the world began

Won’t hold a candle to this end of man.

Forgive me, but I hope the deaths are slow-

Those lingering, the only men to know

The answer to the question always asked-

Are we alone? The emptiness unmasked.

Just they will understand, the dying few-

With no one left to tell, nothing to do.

The curtain falls, but man won’t even cry-

A futile waste of breath with this- good bye.

Religion was a pool of silly dreams,

No answer to our children’s dying screams.

No fighting now. No wondering who’s right.

It never mattered. Human kind- good night.
