This is so cool. I just read you're in healthcare. This must be without a doubt the most rewarding job going. And I envy you, that you really can make a difference on folks lives.
And you have the time to write such brilliant stuff too? 'wow'
Go get em John.
Strong write almost classical Poe like in form and grace. I can see the loving and devoted husband taking what dignity he can in death and going with love to the end.

Profound and controversial thoughts leaving so much to ponder...
I had to deal with this situation almost six years ago....only it wasn't a spouse, but my nineteen year old son who lie comatose in a hospital bed for three months. Personal choice? God? I wrestled with my thoughts and beliefs as I fought to keep him alive...decisions no one should have to make. I believe in a Higher Power...and I also believe that in time, all will be made clear. I'm sorry....I didn't mean to go off on a tangent...but this is excellent writing that leaves so much to think about. Well written and thought provoking, John.

A subject most do not want to think about, much less comment on. For most of my life I have had this vision, that I will be able to know when I have nothing left to give to the world or myself and when that time comes, I like this poem, do not want to be shackled to a bed in a hospital where i waste away . . . Better to take matters in my own hands.
A search for the ghost of a chorus girl chorine haunting a costume designer’s Manhattan apartment leads to an encounter with an eccentric, mischievous witch with the ability to send folks back through time…in this case, the 1919 Ziegfeld Follies.
And you have the time to write such brilliant stuff too? 'wow'
Go get em John.
