It Was A Dream
It was a dream, but such a dream it was-
That will stay always with me just because-
Unsought, a mystic gift out of the blue-
I now know what it’s like to be with you.
Oh we’ve been friends, and that’s all we can be.
This was not real; you’re not in love with me.
I may just see you once or twice per year-
But I’ll be dreaming next time you appear.
It was so innocent, we simply met-
Like other times, but this I won’t forget,
Your kisses always quick- but this time…slow
And neither one of us was letting go.
Your lips so gently planted on my cheek,
I turned my head as yours- my lips would seek
Until they met and all became a kiss-
It was a dream, but could we be like this?
I’ll never know. I must wake up and live.
But if you knew I hope you could forgive
If I just share the dreams of other men,
And one more dream, to dream that dream again.
