It was a dream, but we lived it,
And we are still living it.
Can we ever rise?
We sit in the big comfortable Hotel chairs
At the beautiful pine table.
We could not look more disheveled-
Or more beautiful to each other.
Please don’t touch a thing.
We earned this look,
And we wear it like royalty.
Every scratch, every bruise, every muscle ache
Is a gift from God.
Our giddy smiles betray our secret...
We are the survivors of our own passion.
Last night was over the top.
We don’t always want it like that-
But it happens.
Last night we updated all the manuals,
But we know we wrote the book.
Still, we will go back to bed yet again.
But we know this time it will be a gentle song.
I will apply myself to you
As a soothing balm.
This time, with the blankets over us,
We will make a warm cocoon.
You and I are one love-
Each a wing that carries us aloft together.
Last night we danced with shooting stars.
This morning we will join the sun
In painting the sky.
Pick a color.
I just can’t find a way to thank you
For making this all possible.
Happy carefree butterflies
Escape through an open window
And life goes on.
