Depths of Passion
Of all the reasons entertained for fitness-
Ours is this passion.
We must be able to hold our breath…long…
To feel each other need it…
To trust each other…
Taking turns- lifting…to the surface.
Floating, kissing, sinking…
With air released…we float down…
Landing on each other in turn…
Rising for our life’s breath…
And each other.
This trust, known from the beginning…
A totality beyond comprehension…
Yet seeking expression.
So…
In turn…one of us…
Will stay down.
The other- will bring breath…and life…
This dance of trust…giving each other life…
As we give each other love-
We are baptized…
Sustained…
Lifted up…
Carried as in the womb…
In the waters of a heated pool…
Lights out…
The sounds under water…
Need…
We will be there.
Always giving each other…
The air we breathe.
