Just A Man
I have to think I’m only just a man.
But loving like an angel- what’s the plan?
If I don’t have the healing touch-
Why do I love your soul this much?
It’s not enough to just do what I can.
I guess you thought I might be something more-
We had to wonder what this love was for.
If I can’t bring it all to you
I’ll never know just what to do-
What does the crazy future have in store?
You signed the card, “From your eternal friend.”
And that’s enough, but still we just pretend-
For always we’ve known more than this-
The promise of eternal bliss-
There’s still another card you have to send.
No matter what we do we’re never done-
Until at last confessing, “You’re the one.”
The thing I just could not believe-
It’s you or I’ll forever grieve-
Our love is ever rising like the sun.
I do believe that there is more to me-
As much in love as any man can be-
Please tell me that you feel the same-
It all was real and not a game-
And let me fill your heart with ecstasy.
