If I could love you, dreaming was allowed
To paint the world the way my heart can feel-
Instead of hiding- if true love was proud
And waking up would find my dream is real…
Your smile as my horizon’s rising sun-
And we would stare across with grins and tears
Not counting moments, love would all be one
As everything but us just disappears.
If I could love you…not a far fetched thought-
We hide our faces from the blinding light,
And don’t come out where we just might be caught-
I only feel at times it isn’t right.
So music plays and songs are sung and heard-
While feelings deep inside go unexpressed-
If I could love you- seems somehow absurd-
As if you didn’t know I am so blessed.
Because I love you- seeing in your eyes
The magic that I've always known was mine-
If I could love you- well my dear- surprise-
There’s someone here who always sees you shine.
If I could love you any more than this…
But life insists we read from different scores…
So it will be in dreams I know your kiss,
But not in dreams to know my heart is yours.
