Chase

We chase a dream that flies away
We watch it slice the sky
With nothing left for hearts to say
But only wonder why.

Our memories repeat the song
We wished that we could sing
But somehow love is never wrong
It’s just the strangest thing.

When finally, we can see the sun
Come peeking through each cloud
We’ll feel the gift of everyone
To whom our spirit’s bowed.

We did not lose a thing at all-
Each time our dreaming failed,
A sneaky hidden wake-up call
To who we are prevailed.

In time we do look back and see
Our hearts that broke in two
Can function better openly
As hearts are meant to do.
