“It’s Okay", “It’s Okay.”
You’re crying, I’m crying.
We know we can be who we are with each other.
We just never thought we would make it, actually
Get together and consummate this love that
Has been eating us alive for two years.
We can hardly let go of each other to even start.
We start to undress ourselves,
But then we must finish undressing each other,
Unwrapped as the most sacred Christmas present
We could possibly receive, and the tears keep coming.
“It’s Okay, I love you from the very depths of my soul.”
It is as if our very breathing draws us together.
Clinging we feel the warmth, the skin,
But it isn’t just skin.
It is really you and me, together, in the flesh.
I caress your chest, you caress mine,
And what we feel are the warm wet tears that keep coming.
“It’s Okay.”
Our lips together, and we will never need to breathe again.
This is everything we have ever needed.
Your precious tongue all over mine,
And nothing else in this world is ever going to matter again.
I kiss my way down your neck,
Tasting this dream.
I have to lift myself and look in your precious eyes,
And dry one last tear before there will be no more.
“It’s Okay.”
I take each breast in turn,
And I savor you like the last meal of a death row inmate.
I hear your slight laugh
As I work my way down to where we are both
Lost forever in a place from which
We will never return the same.
You are ready for me.
As I enter you, and we live this dream
That has filled so many pages and broken so many hearts
Who have read every word of poetry
We have ever written to each other,
Our cries at last echo through the room
As one voice unafraid to scream
To the world who we are.
And it’s Okay.

And so we trod this road again,
This road of wasted charm.
And hope this time it will be real,

I'm awed by the beauty, passion and yes, real love contained in these words. A wonderful response to the challenge, John.
I'm never able to find enough words, the right words to describe the effect your work has on me. Whew! This is tender, deeply emotional, so very expressive... Wonderful work!
