Superior Being Two

Mankind, we are superior beings roaming the earth,
for we and we alone are capable of intellectual thought,
it is imprinted firmly upon our in-depth essence from birth,
for it is but what every last one of us are endlessly taught.

If only the reality of life, it’s substance could be told,
maybe we would recognize our crude aggressive way,
and not act so omnipotent for it enables us to be so bold,
that we behave like universal conquerors by light of day.

Stimulate us to feel threaten or confuse and you will die,
for in our intellect we kill, out of bewilderment and greed,
while never caring, nor understanding, or even asking why,
for we are incapable of grasping the depths of our deeds.

Yet, surprisedly, subspecies live in harmony and peace,
productively surviving in an orderly fashion beyond belief,
if only they, the insects and animals kingdom could teach,
just maybe our anguish and suffering could find relief.

I suppose “superior” does not mean intellectually bright,
but rather is defined as controlling and preserving dominance,
for endlessly we repeat our mistakes not envisioning the light,
profoundly sacrificing everything in the name of prominence.
