Beneath the sky of velvet blue,
under the shadows of an oak tree,
pondering what in this world is true ,
clouded thoughts of what might be.
Reality mixed with fantasy of illusion,
in a complicated world of self restrain,
thirsting for knowledge in mass confusion,
thoughts and emotions can not be contained.
Searching for acceptance with latest fashions,
wandering concrete paths under the towers,
never satisfying the grim burning passion,
nor stopping to notice the radiant flowers.
Caught up in the world, our soul captured,
drowning in self pity in society’s stream,
never seeing the wonders of nature’s rapture,
feeling the pain never realizing our dreams.
Open your eyes, take time to enjoy the view,
before it’s too late and you sink in the sand,
there still is enough moments to start a new,
while surrounded by nature’s promised land.
This is a real nice awareness, eye opener! Yes, we sometimes find ourselves smothered by self pity, to the point that we can't enjoy such awesome gifts as a perfect rose, or the music of the ocean, the pure beauty of a singing bird, or the smell of an early morning spring rain. When was the last time you ran to the door to catch sight of a rainbow arching across the sky? Thanks for the reminder, Samuel!
