In the morning one rises to see,
reflections of the morning light,
wondering what the day will be,
recovering from winter’s night.
Will the day hold time to share,
or with obligations upon our back,
not leaving time for those we care,
precious moments, lost like that.
The choice is really ours to choose,
the priorities of exactly how we live,
the wrong choice and well, you lose,
for happiness is in the time we give.
Family and friends, we hold so dear,
giving meaning, fulfilling our dreams,
without them, we would shed a tear,
and be left with only earthly schemes.
True value is how we spend our time,
for it is the essence of quality defined,
it can be as simple as sun rays that shine,
bringing escape from that which confines.
Finding solitude, just walking in the sand,
or participating with a child at play,
maybe just holding a love one’s hand,
for it is your choice, how to spend the day.
