Within the stillness of the darkest of night,
a loud silence consumes the flowing air,
bravery of the day turns to racing fright,
empty thoughts leave only utter despair.
In the cold darkness, it comes crashing down,
all the hardship and reality of the given day,
shedding a false face for a lonesome frown,
drowning in self anguish, hoping it won’t stay.
In solitude of spirit, we face our worst fears,
not having to portray ourselves as being strong,
in the earthly unknown, we shed unwanted tears,
emotions collide, knowing what’s right or wrong.
Awaking in the morning to the cold pouring rain,
from restless sleep, filled with helpless pleads,
beneath the grey skies above, still feeling the pain,
moving forward, once again trying to take the lead.
Residing in a world that is not what it appears to be,
filled with endless insecurities, and hopeless needs,
persisting each day to survive, and to be just me,
pursuing some sort of noble and honorable deeds.
