The Pain of Rain


The rain came pouring down,
in the darkness of the night,
saturating once solid ground,
creating a destructive sight.

The dirt and soil turned to mud,
causing the land to slowly slide,
trees began to fall with a thud,
blocking roads causing a divide.

Rivers rose above their banks,
flooding the peaceful little town,
helping hands with little thanks,
destruction causes such a frown.

A simple act of nature’s rain,
needed to moisten the land,
abundance creates such a pain,
filling all the sacks with sand.

Destruction and so much sorrow,
appears without any warning,
a rainbow, hope for tomorrow,
the sun will shine in the morning.
