Conquest Of Life


In life we each stake our claim,
trying not to stumble and fall,
having only our self to blame,
is really the hardest part of all.

Time is always in full motion,
moving fast it’s hard to bear,
a mere speck upon the ocean,
as we take the ultimate dare.

Trying not to sink in the deep,
enjoying the warmth of the sun,
restlessly tossing in our sleep,
for our work is yet to be done.

Our spirit is meek and ever shy,
falling back not wanting to lead,
some survive, while others die,
drowning, not hearing the plead.

Discovering the courage we lack,
fleeing the dark, afraid of capture,
moving ahead never looking back,
in search of happiness and rapture.
