Not Ours To Own


Within the morning light,
as another new day is born,
darkness fades from sight,
past ending, so ever worn.

Each sunrise starts anew,
another chance to succeed,
under the sky of velvet blue,
to survive you must believe.

Majestic setting, ever vast,
across this earth we roam,
knowing the day won’t last,
by night you must be home.

Enchanted land of dreams,
fulfillment through desire,
caught in selfish schemes,
one’s heart, often on fire.

Time is not ours to own,
traveling life’s only path,
possessions just on loan,
subject to nature’s wrath.
