Day Dream


Staring out the window in a daze,
flowers blooming in early spring,
mind boggled in a jumble haze,
as birds of flight, chirp and sing.

Cloud formations across the sky,
in the midst of the vast ever blue,
imaginary puffs of figures flow by,
never grasping the reality so true .

Secure in the comfort of home,
caught in memories of the past,
danger lurks whenever we roam,
knowing this moment won’t last.

Revisiting brief moments in time,
surviving what the future holds,
held hostage within our own mind,
each passing day the story unfolds.

Tomorrow is but yesterday’s desires,
where mental thoughts become real,
hope turns to despair’s burning fires,
for uncertainty evokes how we feel.
