Whispers heard in the darkness of night,
the words too faint to define the sounds,
appears a foggy glow of flickering light,
as the beating of hearts begin to pound.
The air consumed by a cold damp chill,
essences of a ghostly spirit in the room,
helplessly fearful of it’s nocturnal will,
ensnared in what is now a mortal tomb.
Footsteps heard slinking in the cold dark,
spirits searching for answers of the past,
haunting the present from it’s very start,
life is short in death we forever will last.
The unknown instills our hearts with fear,
for it is just human nature to be that way,
excitement and panic bring frightful tears,
hoping we’re able to survive another day.
Eerie sounds in dim lit light create despair,
the truth of which it could all be an illusion,
our mind haunted by secrets never shared,
or souls lost in death’s corridor of confusion.
Sam, this is an adventure into the world of another's thoughts. "The unknown instills our hearts with fear, for it is just human nature to be that way," loved these two lines! Thanks for sharing.

Very dark offering. The imagery is excellent. You had me walking on egg shells and glacing over my shoulder.
