Writing poetry can bring endless joy,
when a thought arises it’s there to stay
plaguing my mind, it constantly toys,
distracting thought patterns every way.
Until it’s on paper there is no resolve,
the words keep flowing into the brain,
it’s just a problem I can’t seem to solve,
unable to function, driving me insane.
Poetry can be such a wondrous gift,
dominating thoughts makes it a curse,
once written it creates a pleasant lift,
in life’s there’s a lot of things worse.
The muse hits the brain the words flow,
grace and elegance beyond all compare,
sparkling and dancing, how I don’t know,
but I write them for the world to share.
It seems the choice is not mine to make,
as the rhythm and rhyme flow to the time,
surely if I don’t write, my spirit will break,
for it brings contentment to my simple mind.
