Darkness befalls consuming the very light,
dispelling the realm of thoughts and desires,
one’s sense of security fades from our sight,
lost in the despair of the night’s burning fire.
Releasing control of destine’s bright illusion,
ghostly spirits perform within one’s own mind,
real or make believe they surely cause confusion,
pondering both the past and presence of time.
Drifting off into the land of relaxation and sleep,
the mind passes into the corridor of memories lost,
forgotten emotions and pain that cause us to weep,
hence they’re gone for from our mind their tossed.
Nightmarish dreams surface from within our soul,
what is and what has been seems to never, ever die,
often in our soundest sleep they take their mortal toll,
the truth shall always be set free from all the lies.
The darkness of night can be our enemy or our friend,
our inner spirit transcends the joys as well as the pain,
bringing us each inside to fight the battles to the end,
dreams can wash away our enemies in the pouring rain.
Such a profound write my friend, we can either look forward to a peaceful nights sleep and rest if our minds and spirits are at rest, or we can dread the tossing and turning of a long night of night mares that invade our dreams and thoughts...I have had both, I prefer the peaceful sleep and soothing dreams, those that help wash away the worries of the day...I was anxious to read this one my friend after our day of fire fighting yesterday...check out my blog from today and you'll understand...enjoyed the write very deep and thought provoking.

Samuel, this was interesting to the last line and I enjoyed it very much. Night time does seem to magnify our memories of good deeds and painful misgivings. I liked the images and the flow of this.

Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
Major League ballplayer Justin Moore is kidnapped from his own ballpark and transported to a foreign land. It might take high-level international negotiations to free him. Or maybe he will take matters into his own hands.
