Thoughts and Fears
A mist in the air covering the ground,
wet, moist dew hanging upon the trees,
transparent clouds of fog ever surround,
in the stillness you hear nature’s pleads.
An enigma of nature’s spirit transcends,
filling the void within one’s very soul,
the forest forever real never pretends,
upon it’s path it takes but a mortal toll.
Step by step in the hush of the night,
peering, penetrating the essence of being,
dimly lit moon provides the only light,
perils of darkness brings a sense of fleeing.
Sounds of an owl hooting can be heard,
breaking the silence with a haunting effect,
in the darkness it becomes more that a bird,
wandering in fear there is no one to protect.
In the night too often the woods come alive,
never knowing the dangers that are near,
desperation, wondering if you’ll survive,
alone, your inner most thoughts and fears.

Outstanding poetry! You take the reader with you on your journey thru the woods at night. How different and more scarey noises are during the dark of night than day. EXCELLENT poem.
