Burning Desire

Burning desire deep within our soul,

a never ending conflict deep within,

love and hate waging war for control,

in the mystic Sea of calm it will begin.

A fight for power until the very end,

charitable thoughts to envy and greed,

never knowing your enemy or friends,

drowning voices in soft spoken pleads.

Thoughts of conquest, rapture and illusion,

in this twisted world of materialistic gain,

we’re lost in the rumble of utter confusion,

often found left lying in self-pity and pain.

Captivated moments lost to fright and fear,

on the battlefield existing in our own mind,

brings a realization that the end maybe near,

the truth is we will run out of precious time.

Thoughts and feelings bring intense desire

and meaning and purpose to the life we live,

in the end time extinguishes the burning fire,

returning dust to dust with no more to give.
