A Nickel To A Dime

From just a nickel to a dime,

working each and everyday,

ladder of success we climb,

it is the nature of our way.

Rising so early before five,

days and weeks are planned,

for work is how we survive,

buying our house and land.

Importance of material things,

struggling to make ends meet,

it might be easier with wings,

by nightfall we’re often beat.

Making a living can be so hard,

work all day and into the night,

evil lurking keeps us on guard,

in darkness searching for light.

Counting pennies a means to cope,

while trying some get rich schemes,

but as long as we work there is hope,

in the treasure of tomorrow’s dreams.
