Always in want of something more,
something new, something that’s hot,
each chance we get we go to the store,
our possessions just seem to mean a lot.
All we have, it is never enough stuff,
materialistic things our heart desires,
from boats to cars, things we can buff,
diamonds and gold just sets us on fire.
Possessions dominate our day dreams,
never satisfied constantly on the prowl,
love of money we invent new schemes,
reaching goals makes us yell and howl.
What we have with friends we compare,
jealous of one another we become so sad,
in want of fulfillment we forget to share,
possessions are nice but can make us bad.
No matter what it is, as long as it is mine,
from gold to silver, to pretty and so red,
we keep acquiring more over our life time,
then before we know it , sadly, we’re dead.
