Courage We Lack
The glittering rays of the Sun’s early light,
sparkling, glistening on the morning dew,
joyful hope that the day will turn out right,
feeling contentment beneath the sky of blue.
Birds on nature in flight, chirp as they sing,
we stretch and rise to greet another new day,
hope in our hearts and the promise it brings,
racing about getting ready to be on our way.
Sleepy and groggy, stirring, trying to wake,
filled with anticipation we head to the door,
life’s such a challenge, we make our stake,
never knowing what the future has in store.
We’re all so different yet we’re all the same,
hoping to find the happiness, love, and peace,
while fighting for survival never to be tamed,
we strive each day just to obtain a new lease.
Rationalizing our actions out of need to cope,
with each step forward we fall two steps back,
dreams of tomorrow, fingers crossed with hope,
morning light often brings the courage we lack.
