Train Ride...

Gray clouds, foggy skies...

city streets haggard and used.

Dark tunnels with light at the end,

graffetti painted walls seek approval.

Solemn, unfriendly, cheerful, concerned faces...

stare seeing and unseeing through hooded lids.

Rusty rails, clickety, clack the train does pass...

to and fro destinations known and unknown.

Welcome and unwelcome thoughts ...

probe the mind .

While traveling stationary to our destinations.

1986. That was a pretty good year for me. I was in middle school, I was in love, and the music was great. As the years passed I imagine this poem has gained meaning for you. Believe me this goes into my reception of the piece. At the same time I see it as it was when it was new, freshly written, the ink still wet. Whether considered as fresh, new wine or as wine aged to perfection, it has a profound effect.

I got the feeling that I was gently rocking back and forth as if on that train, while I was reading this poem! Good job!

I love the way this tumbles down the page. Well done, Zenith.
