Eternally Grateful

Eternally grateful, forever I'll be
bathed in hateful lessons...
spewed by you to me.

Clothed in spiritual armor unseen
I float over minefields...
occasional wounds cut deep.

Angels protect me...
Lord above I pray...
Let me live to see a new day...

Harsh words impale, my heart every day
sometimes I sidestep...
the blow aimed my way.

No lace nor satin adorn my skin
roses and silken mortars...
preludes to abusive episodes...
waiting to begin than end.

Angels protect me...
Watch over me now..

Inanimate object, subject to your will
subjugating my soul..
I can't let you win.

Belittle, berate me old patterns die hard
spewing volcanic ashes...
I douse you with love.

I've traveled over hot coals
since the day I was born...
you can't destroy me...
I've been broken before.

Angels protect me...
Sent from God above...

Your secrets exposed
no more mask on your face...
clearly I see the hate you've misplaced.

Sadly resigned, you won't help yourself
inducing fire and brimstone...
you destroy all that's in your path.

Angels do cry...
For those that are lost...

Hate you...I won't , I'll just wish you well
go on with my life...
retaining lessons you've taught.

Eternally grateful, forever I'll be
continuing my journey...
hoping I help others to see...
life is too precious...
to allow self induced imprisonment, be free...

Beautifully written Zenith.

There's that old saying "what does not kill us makes us stronger" BUT as you have understood - that which we pass on strenghtens others.

You might like to check out my poems "The Survivor" and "The Legacy" which are just two of my takes on this much needing to be expressed topic. ( We feel not dissimilar)

Regards

DJ.

Excellent! It follows throughout without a bit of clutter, and holds a fine message throughout.

My qualms are in the use of elipses, as they tend to be a big poetic faux pas, and that you should revise it for commas.

Belittle, berate me old patterns die hard
spewing volcanic ashes...
I douse you with love.

Great Stanza!

You might like my poem "Vicious tongues and the Damage Done" as it somewhat parallells this work.

Regards.

Z! I loved these verses. This one stuck to me: "I've traveled over hot coals
since the day I was born..."..MAN! Your literary qualities are amazing. Love your emotions on paper. Aching, hurt and a subtle "It'll be ok" is felt through out this entire piece. Very well done. I agree, very angelic attitude. Gotta love that.

Thanks,
Emilie

There is a very quiet dignity and grace in this write...and, a determination to live on your own terms. It is something we can all learn from.

Karma Bank to Following By Listening by Chiemi

These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
