It's amazing when you stop, take time to think
what makes writer's and artist's continually tick
words and images flood their receptive minds
sleep is so often elusive, it gets lost in time
as soulful words and images possess their thoughts
flood gates can barely contain what can't be bought

Some days their brains get clogged with grime
needing liquid plummer to release the rhymes
eyes get cloudy, curtains are drawn shut
in need of sunny days for visions to spawn
days and nights consumed with depression
emotional roller coasters spur their passions

Paints and brushes, verbs and nouns
creative tools that must be kept around
fragile, delicate, strong and wise
writer's and artists will muse and survive
horror, history, romantic trysts, humor, compassion
raw talent, educated scholars, all refined gifts

Thankful am I to the wise powers that be
they created a home for you and me
from every continent whether far or near
we have a place to share with our peers
though we may not always see eye to eye
friendships made bring happiness and smiles

Reviews and comments make many a day
some teach, some console, some confuse, that's O.K.
we laugh, we cry, we vent , and then play
a family we are and a family we will stay
so share your muses do color our world
bestow your gifts share with the world.
