Innocent, helpless newborn babe
into this world, you graced a day.
Once vibrant, laughing and playing
with childlike, mischievous glee.
Double dutch, hop scotch
hide and seek.
Life was untamed no boudaries
held your imagination at bay.
When did the haze and glaze
take your zest for life away?
When did the drugs
become your lifeline?
Up your nose...
In your veins...
Whatever it takes,
to numb your brain!
Drink it...
Snort it...
Smoke it...
Shoot it...
Hell! You hide so well
you can't find yourself,
lost and turned out
being someone else.
Lying and stealing
is your claim to fame,
Oops! For a "hit"
you'd sell your name...
No apologies here
for your sorry state,
You once were young
with a choice to make!
Love Tinka
Best regards,
Leland
Good message, I suggest you remove the comma after drugs in S3.
"You hide so good" should be well. It's more gramatically consistent and offers a straight rhyme for hell and a slant for yourself and else.
Floating through life,
null and void..
Oh! I forgot!
This world Owes you more...
This seems the weakest stanza, being both inconsistent with the latter stanzas scheme and having a mildly abrasive, embittered inflection.
so far as I see, S1 and 4 are the strongest, and the poems should hinge on these.
Hope this has been enlightening, thanks for the read.
