So many times I've gazed into empty skies tears silently trickle down bruised cheeks, quiet sobs, lie heavy on my chest. Be quiet in your suffering, damn you to hell if the children see your weakness. They see, they hear, they know...
No one knows! I lie over and over to myself the truth is more painful than the reality. Or so i tell myself, repeatedly. Everyone knows, everyone sees, everyone wonders...
They tell you, they show you, they try to help you. No, they don't understand, things will change. I have faith, I pray, I feel it deep within my soul. It will change! They will see...soon, everything will be picture perfect, they will know that they were wrong...
Pride. Yes, pride. Wrongful pride turns days into years silently raping innocent emotions, slowly turning them into a stone prison. I love you...because I might disappoint my wrongful pride if I admit that I am wrong...
I am dead to the world of the living. I gave you the key to willingly lock me away from all living things. My soul screams in cancerous agony, I grow tired and weary of the demented thoughts taking over my will...
I remember when I had fire of life. I remember the sounds, sights and smells of happiness. A spark ignites...
I want to Live, Love, I want to Survive! I want my Children, Family, Friends I want my life back! I hereby, order you to take your palace of wasteland principles and destructive ordinances back from whence you and they came! I take back the key and unlock the chains of agony...
Now I look into brilliant skies they look back at me, and we smile...
Now I look into brilliant skies they look back at me, and we smile...
A lament of great wisdom and strength. This is strong offering that is uplifting. Encouraging piece.
An excellent expression of emotion; pain, grief, pride, all written without reservation…bravo you milady…~DarkBard~

Hi Z
I don't really see this in terms of any form of weakness at all, and if the fire there, well at one time, well tht only means a hearth, and a hearth, a heart, and since the hearth stere in tact, well, fires once more coming, great poem, in eloquence of statements Z, and much strength required to state the whole thing, ..... the bricks know, al

We must all nurture that spark and keep it alive! Well done, Zenith.

Wow, Zenith! These are the very keys and the same prison I wrote about in 'The Key Choice' and you responded with a comment about your experience in Corrections... LOL - which prompted me to write a little foreword concerning the metaphorical! This is excellent and passionate - well done!
A portrait of abuse -- well penned. It doesn't doesn't paint a pretty picture, but one certainly worth bringing up again, and again, until we get it write. If I was going to point to every line in this piece that hit right between the eyes, I'd have to copy the whole thing here. I will point to one line, however, because it shows sensitivity to the subject:
"i love you...because i might disappoint , my wrongful pride if i admit, that i am wrong..." <Very poignant statemet, and the key reason people stay in abusive situations. Victims of abuse are even more misunderstood than addicts, and that is saying a lot, because abuse, or the acceptance of it, is also an addiction. A condition we've been taught to accept, and one society has condoned in the past -- some still do. A most difficult psychological chain to break.
"Chains of Agony" This title is right on target. Excellently penned piece of work.

Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.
