See life approach last canticle hour
death’s dreary dark its fickle glower.
When pain sets forth to show its power
in minded mourning of its senses.

What man can say by truth or lie
the wished day that he should die.
Or calamity such, fa’ frae yon sky
when he were best, afore it.

It makes nae sense tae grieve its time
or stricture set tae some sad rhyme.
Our Pluto gives nae thought tae grime
on such dark journey, paid and waiting.

So doff yer hats all ye who can
if nae its poem, then at least the man.
Who lived by words, his allotted span
and gave nae thought to greatness.

Mor.

Once again I have marveled at your tightly written words and rhyme. An epitaph of of sort about a poet's approach to the approach of Pluto (and the underworld?).

Much enjoyed.

The Scottish parlance lends itself perfectly to this piece. The rhythm, and rhyme scheme, and message, speaks volumes of the poets aesthesias, bailiwicks, and priorities. A fine poem for me to ingest this morning at 10,300 ft in the eastern sierras. Peace and continued inspiration ... richard

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
