Life carries on
It hasn’t been one of the worst
But nowhere near the best
Just another mediocre day
Like most of all the rest
Life used to be interesting
Full of activity, work and fun
But since the grim reaper visited
There’s little that can be done
I’m just glad I didn’t waste
My life and time before
As you can never know the day
He’ll arrive at your front door
He was beaten, by strength of will
Fate and love and care
But stole health and energy
Now little to use and none to spare
Taken to a place you do not know
Stamina you cannot find
Forever now, just a dim memory
Somewhere, lost in your mind
With the best will in the world
Using effort to win a prize
You cannot retrieve what has gone
As you await the next sunrise
