As strangers we dance an
electrotonic pas de deux
my decades-old radio
concert recording tape
offered for your
listening repetitively
pleasure as you
freely digitize for me
You reciprocate, offer, play
your favorite DVDs, those that
move a man to tears,
to music action.
You record my voice then
later in your private place
add sounds of own design
act against a solitude
that being single parent aggravates.
I have not said how much
a daddy being parent
seduces me, shouts love.
An inclination, don't know why.
You, your son, as close
as playful fist to bicep when
my father kept his reputable
distance from girl child he loved.
Distance like this space
that has been engineered
between us
filled with disembodied
sounds shared
analogue
yet still estranged
through digital ascent.
