The Devil's Out ta Get'cha!

Fun, inspirational poem about the Devil and how he can fool you. Remember, he is a liar!

The Devil’s out ta get'cha with his cunning, crafty sword

he wants to bring you down and destroy your last reward

Deception is his tool of trade, he’ll take you by the hand

and lead you down a rocky road

which turns to sinking sand

He’ll grasp at any tiny crack, so guard your open door

he’ll slip right in so silently and plant his sinful lure

He’s famous for his cleverness, renowned for all his lies

and as he leads you off to hell

he’ll laugh at your sad cries

Be always watchful, every day

stay close to God and watch and pray

old Satan, dear, is out ta get'cha

don’t let him have the final say.

Yes, the Devil’s out ta get'cha,

so you’d better watch your back

He’ll promise you the world and more

and say you’ll have no lack

He’ll temp you down forbidden roads

with thoughts of wealth and fame

he’ll whisper in your ear and say

he’ll protect your “well known” name

After you’ve partaken of illicit, secret fun,

he’ll open the protecting door,

revealing you as a “fallen one”

He’ll laugh with glee as all your friends

tell others of your shame

and boast to all his demons

how he “got'cha” and ruined your name

There’s only one way to escape

his evil, tempting lair

Walk with Jesus every day,

And talk with Him in prayer.

You're right--it's a fun poem--but also very true. He is a deceiver in every possible way, but your closing lines hold the solution to dealing with him. God is more powerful than the devil, and is more than willing to help.
