Most things in life have an element of illusion, and there are different levels of credibility..

Gold plating and marble Above concrete, rust & roaches Five-star-hotel A posh bank plaza Shines in the morning sun Haha here goes your money Bad breath at 5 am Brittle makeup sleepy eyes Hey supermodel! Rings are exchanged, and a kiss I love you forever Statistically 4 five years Elegant sports car A promise for fun and joy From a color-folded tin can Steel towers above the city Are symbols of power and pride I rather walk in the forest Good and bad things Are face value only And will return to dust May love guide us Honesty, diligence, patience Through the abyss of life (c) 2005 by Franz L Kessler

Franz, you illuminated life's absurdities (fraud, one might call them) in such a clear, sharp way! 'Excellent' would be an understatement.

This is great and some people never see the warts or the temporary nature of things. I think I saw something about the first one on 20 20.

I'd much rather walk in the forest, too, Franz. I think I've stayed at too many of those hotels you talk about in your first stanza; now I prefer a tent!
