A gift from heaven? A message from hell?
It reaches us people, wherever we dwell.
It's tiny, unvisible and rather thin
Dark lurking below a civet cat's skin
It gives my son sweat feverish nights
And boldly freezes posh internet sites
Exhaled in a bridge-shade beggar's hollow cough
It's the fire-sword angel for those who love
Information is bliss, or causes bottomless doom
It changes life's fabric stretched on the loom
Mortal beings we are programmed to die
Human life never was an apple pie.

Reindeer
viruses lurking around every corner *YIKES*, what a chilling thought
excellent, dark poem--well done
i, too, have seen a civet--amazing cats
(((HUGS))) and love, karla. :)
I can see a corrolary between this and your February poem, which has had me thinking all day on writing a poem about how viruses are nothing more than the planets own self-defense against invading armies of parasites. With us as the parasite.
Don't you just love poetry?
